The Irvine Police tracked down two package theft suspects from North Hollywood

You might recall reading about a package thief in Irvine who took the time to take a selfie as she went about committing a crime. Unfortunately for her she was caught in action on surveillance video. Turns out that taking selfies during the commission of a crime provides good photos for police departments to use to identify the suspects!

After some media attention, Irvine police detectives heard from someone who was able to provide information which led to the detectives to finding out the identities of the suspects.

Irvine police detectives worked diligently on this case in collaboration with their partners at the L.A. Police Department and were able to arrest Madina Kudratbayeva, 24, and Feride Yeshpayeva, 22, both from North Hollywood, on burglary, conspiracy, and identity theft charges. The value of the items they stole from a FedEx location was about $7,000 which means they will be facing felony theft charges.

Both of these suspects are likely from Kazakhstan based on their surnames. Kazakhstan, is a transcontinental landlocked country located mainly in Central Asia and partly in Eastern Europe. It borders Russia to the north and west, China to the east, Kyrgyzstan to the southeast, Uzbekistan to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southwest, with a coastline along the Caspian Sea. The Irvine Police Dept. recommends that deliveries coincide with a time when you are going to be home. If you are not going to be home, you can have the package held for pickup or have a neighbor or someone you trust, retrieve it for you.
