The Irvine Police tracked down a home burglar who had fled on a bike

On Sunday afternoon, a Westpark resident returned home and found a suspect inside their open garage, according to the Irvine Police Department.

When the homeowner confronted the suspect, the suspect dropped the victim’s property and fled on a bicycle.

Our officers broadcasted a suspect description to other IPD units when they arrived. Officers later spotted the suspect riding down Barranca near Flight Way.

The man had a bike and wallet containing credit cards he had previously taken from a former dating partner.

The 38-year-old man from Long Beach was arrested and booked at Orange County Jail for burglary and possessing stolen property.
