The Irvine Police Department is trying to identify a man who has been damaging and disabling advanced wildfire detection equipment in the open space near Lake Forest and Bake Parkway.
The Irvine Police released several pictures of the suspect. He is seen wearing green shorts and a white t-shirt. He appears to be in his 50’s or 60’s and has gray hair. He is a white male and appears to be tall. In one picture he is riding a black bicycle.
These devices are critical to keeping our community safe.

He did not damage anything. He did not disable anything. The only thing he did was aim the sensor back towards the hills where they had been aimed previously. The pole and fittings are loose allowing the solar panel and sensor to move/spin around. This was explained to the Irvine Police Dept.
