The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) yesterday made an arrest after several gunshots were fired in a residential area on Pacific Avenue.
Yesterday, Sept. 22, 2021, at approximately 4:04 p.m., CMPD officers responded to the 2200 block of Pacific Avenue after receiving calls reporting gunshots being heard in the area. A witness provided a description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. During the initial investigation of the scene, officers located several bullet shell casings in the street. Nearby, they found a vehicle with bullet holes in it and one bullet lodged into a wall of a residence. No one was injured from the gunshots fired.
Officers identified the sole suspect, who they are familiar with, and responded to his residence where the suspect and vehicle were located. The suspect was arrested and a handgun was recovered. The arrestee is not an adult and due to his age, his name and identifying information will not be released. The suspect was booked at Orange County Juvenile Hall.
The initial investigation suggests this is not a random incident. Anyone who may have additional information on this incident is asked to contact Investigator Tyrus Ranck at 714-754-5363 or tranck@costamesaca.gov, or Sergeant Matt Selinske at 714-754-5093 or mselinske@costamesaca.gov.
