Yesterday morning, Costa Mesa police officers attempted to contact a warrant suspect in the area of Placentia Avenue and 20th Street but the suspect fled from officers and climbed onto a roof of a nearby business.
A perimeter was established and a traffic lane was closed down.
Officers coordinated with Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue to access the roof and safely extricate the suspect off the roof after he was arrested.
The Huntington Beach Police Department HB1 helicopter played a huge role with locating and monitoring the suspect.
Great work by the Costa Mesa Police Department’s sergeants, officers and park rangers cadets. Shout out to the Costa MEsa Fire partners who are always there to assist the police in incidents like these.

I’m all for law and order, but this seems like a strange use of public resources. An extension ladder from Home Depot would have done the trick.
