Media Arts Santa Ana invites you to join us for the Opening Night Celebration for the 6th OC Film Fiesta this Friday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. at the Frida Cinema on Santa Ana’s historic Calle Cuatro.
The evening features a screening of the Mexican comedy sensation Nosotros los Nobles, in which wealthy empresario Germán Noble (Gonzalo Vega) teaches his three spoiled children (Luis Gerardo Mendez, Juan Pablo Gil and Karla Souza), a lesson about life and the meaning of hard work by telling them the family fortune has disappeared and they need to get jobs!
In Nosotros los Nobles, wealthy empresario Germán Noble (Gonzalo Vega) wants to teach his three spoiled children a lesson about life and the meaning of hard work. Things get real fast for Javi (Luis Gerardo Mendez), Cha (Juan Pablo Gil) and Bárbara (Karla Souza), when daddy cuts the purse strings and makes them fend for themselves. Based on Luis Buñuel’s 1949 comedy El Gran Calavera, which screens Sat., Oct. 10 @ 11am in this year’s Film Fiesta. Nosotros los Nobles screens at 8pm in Friday, followed by a night of schmoozing and dancing at the new Kutsi Cocina in Santa Ana’s Artists Village. The 2015 Film Fiesta Opening Night Celebration is presented in association with Media Arts Santa Ana (MASA) The Mexican Consulate in OC, the Santa Ana Business Council and the OC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Kutsi Cocina.
Tickets for the Opening Night screening of Nosotros los Nobles can be purchased online or at www.ocfilmfiesta.org or at the Frida Cinema box office. The festival runs over two weekends from Oct. 8-18 and features special guests such as Edward James Olmos, Pepe Serna, Veronica Sixtos, Roberto Urbina, Richard Pursel and more!
The 2015 Film Fiesta opening weekend is packed full of highlights, including an Orson Welles Tribute, the riveting documentary The Hand The Feeds, a free 11am screening of Luis Buñuel’s 1949 comedy El Gran Calavera and a free sneak preview of the first two episodes of Amazon’s new series The Man in the High Castle, produced by Ridley Scott and based on the classic alternate history novel by Philip K. Dick. Additionally, OC legend Pepe Serna (Scarface, Buckaroo Banzai, American Me) will be on hand for the Saturday night screening of Dave Boyle’s acclaimed Latino/Japanese noir thriller Man from Reno, in which he stars.
On Sunday at 3 pm, join actor/producer Edward James Olmos, director Ricardo Arnaiz and producers Alex Flores and Gerry Cardoso for an advance screening of their new state-of-the-art animated feature El Americano: The Movie, a winning family-film about a precocious green parrot named Cuco who must travel to Hollywood to enlist the aid of his silver screen hero El Americano to save the family’s avian circus in Mexico.
Sunday’s lineup also includes a free 11am screening of new animated shorts from IMCINE, Stripped: The Comics Documentary, a love letter to comics featuring interviews with over 90 artists including Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey), Keith Knight (The K Chronicles) and the first audio interview with Calvin and Hobbes creator Bill Watterson; and the award-winning indie thriller Pocha: Manifest Destiny, with cast and crew.
The 2015 OC Film Fiesta runs over two weekends from Oct. 9-18, and includes a dazzling array of films, documentaries, shorts and animated works, including the OC Premiere of Peter Greenaway’s new film Eisenstein in Guanajuato, a lost Dolores del Rio silent adaptation of the beloved California classic Ramona.
