Suspects armed with a machete-like knife robbed two victims in Santa Ana this week

Santa Ana residents now have to worry about getting robbed by armed men who may be using machetes.

Two armed robberies took place this week, in Santa Ana, involving three male suspects, according to KTLA.

The first robbery happeted at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday night near a bike path at the 3000 block of W. Edinger Avenue.

Three men approached a victim who was riding an electric skateboard. One of the suspects was armed with a gun while another suspect was armed with a knife that was similar to a machete, according to the SAPD.

The suspects stole the victim’s cell phone and a GoPro camera and then took off on foot from the scene.

A few hours later three suspects, possibly the same ones involved in the first robbery, held another victim at knife point with the machete while two cell phones and a gold chain were taken from the victim. That robbery occurred at around 2 a.m. at the 500 block of S. Bristol Street.

The SAPD’s investigators are still trying to determine if the same suspects were involved in both armed robberies. No further details have been released at this time.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Santa Ana Police Department at 714-245-8400 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-847-6227.
