Alan Herbey Cadena-Parra, a 27-year-old man, pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for stabbing 44-year-old man in Santa Ana two years ago.
The attack happened at about 6:25 p.m. on Feb. 25, 2021, at the 200 block of North Clara Street in Santa Ana, according to the SAPD.
Witnesses saw two men running after the victim and asked SAPD plainclothes detectives who were nearby to help. The detectives then radioed for uniformed officers. Those officers were eventually able to track down Cadena-Parra.
The motive for the attack remains unknown. The victim’s name was not released.
Caedena-Parra accepted a plea bargain Friday from Orange County Superior Court Judge Scott Steiner, who gave the defendant 930 days credit for time served awaiting trial. That amounts to about two and a half years.
The OCDA prosecutors objected to the sentence. It is not known why Judge Steiner opted to give Caedena-Parra a break.
Cadena-Parra pleaded guilty to a felony charge of attempted murder and also admitted sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder and the personal use of a deadly weapon.
