Suspect in fatal shooting at the Casa Del Rey arrested

Advisory: UPDATE – Detectives Investigating Homicide in the 200 Block of West Warner Avenue

UPDATE: On April 11, 2017 at approximately 12:08 a.m. Mauricio “Marty” Martinez was shot and killed. Santa Ana Homicide Detectives assumed the investigation and identified Augustin Ceja (19) as the suspect responsible for Martinez’ murder.

With the assistance of personnel from Santa Ana Police Department’s Special Investigations and Field Operations, Ceja was taken into custody without incident on April 11, 2017. At the time of Ceja’s arrest he was in possession of a loaded firearm.

He was subsequently booked for murder.

Synopsis:

On Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 12:08 AM, Santa Ana Police Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Casa Del Rey Bar located at 230 W. Warner Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers found an adult male down in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. Orange Count y Fire Authority responded and pronounced the adult male deceased at 12:24 AM.

Preliminary investigation revealed bar patrons may have become engaged in an argument in the parking lot, which resulted in a shooting. The actual motive is still under investigation.

SAPD Homicide Detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is requested to contact the SAPD Homicide Unit at (714) 245-8390.
