Senator Lou Correa Named Legislator of the Year by the California Small Business Association and California Small Business Roundtable

SACRAMENTO, CA – Orange County Senator Lou Correa was named California Small Business Association (CSBA) and California Small Business Roundtable (CSBR) Legislator of the Year.

“Senator Correa has continually worked as an advocate for the small business community,” said Betty Jo Toccoli, President California Small Business Association, “The Senator’s extensive knowledge has allowed him to make careful decisions on specific legislation and weigh their impacts on the small business community and job market overall. Senator Correa’s skills and careful decision making have set him apart.”

Senator Correa was honored for staying true to his beliefs of opportunity and serving his constituents skillfully while being a friend to California’s small business community as a whole.

Senator Correa, honored by the award, gave some advice to the small business owners at the awards dinner, “California’s small businesses are the economic engine of the state and you must continue to speak with a unified voice so that the Legislature understands the impacts it’s decision have on our small business community.”

With small businesses comprising 99.2% of all employer firms in California and accounting for more than 50% of California’s new job creation it is imperative that small business issues are at the forefront of California’s legislative agenda.

Without healthy and vibrant small businesses creating jobs the state’s economic recovery efforts will be futile. It is imperative that the legislature does everything in its power to create tax, regulatory and economic environments that will serve as facilitators in small business growth.

“Senator Correa represents an area of California where every job counts and many of the factories that once fueled the area with jobs are now gone, by working together with the small business community he is willing to understand what we need to start hiring again,” said Toccoli.

Senator Lou Correa’s 34th Senate District includes the cities of Anaheim, Santa Ana, Garden Grove, Westminster, Stanton, Buena Park, and Fullerton.
