Smoke Advisory issued for the Tustin area due to the Hangar fire

A smoke advisory has been issued for the Tustin area by the South Coast Air Quality Management District due to the ongoing slow-burning fire at the North Hangar. The advisory is set for 10 a.m. today through Wednesday at midnight.

• Updates about the fire can be found on the Orange County Fire Authority ‘X’ – formerly Twitter -page
• Most smoke impacts are localized at present, with light to moderate winds expected the rest of Tuesday
• Air quality conditions may reach Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups in nearby neighborhoods
• Strong Santa Ana winds are expected Wednesday morning onward, potentially pushing any remaining smoke toward the southwest

If you are in an area impacted by smoke:

• Limit your exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed or seeking alternate shelter.
• Avoid vigorous physical activity.
• Run your air conditioning and/or an air purifier. If possible, do not use swamp coolers or whole house fans that bring in outside air.
• Avoid burning wood in your fireplace or firepit and minimize sources of indoor air pollution such as candles, incense, pan-frying, and grilling.
• If you must be outside, a properly fit N95 or P100 respirator may provide some protection.
