On Friday night, March 8, the Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) conducted a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint, at 17th Street at Westminster Avenue.
A total of 213 drivers were contacted and this yielded 18 field evaluations for impairment, 6 DUI arrests, 10 citations issued for driver’s license related violations, and 12 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 510 vehicles passed through this checkpoint, including a doughnut truck. The CMPD did not reveal if their officers were treated to free samples.
The CMPD is committed to reducing injuries and fatalities on the road due to impairment. They remind us to neverdrive under the influence and obey all traffic laws.
