Senator Lou Correa to Receive Health Care Champion Award
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Sen. Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) will be honored for his willingness to support the health care community and expand access to care when he receives the California Hospital Association (CHA) Health Care Champion Award during a special ceremony at noon, Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Hospital Association of Southern California’s (HASC) Orange County Regional Office in Garden Grove.
The award recognizes Sen. Correa for his continued efforts to expand funding for the Medical Services Initiative (MSI) program, preserving necessary support for health care providers that serve the uninsured, thereby preserving access to health care for the MSI population. Sen. Correa has also been critical in efforts to secure funding to expand timely treatment and capacity for those suffering mental health emergencies, freeing up emergency room space for others needing emergency medical services.
