Discovery Science Center “Scholastic Chess Tournament

Young chess players (grades K-12) are invited to enhance their learning and life skills through chess and make new friends!

Chess assists in memory, logic and analysis which are key components of improving of any student’s ability to think.

Meet UCI Neurology Grad Students who can help you better develop these strategic thinking skills!

Tournament Schedule :

  • 9:45am-10:30am: Check in and on-site registration
  • 10:30am: Opening Ceremony with Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido
  • 10:30am-12:00pm: Tournament Begins
  • 12:00pm-1:00pm: Break
  • 1:00pm-3:00pm: Tournament
  • 3:00pm: Award Ceremony

 Pre-registration is $10.00 and includes the players’ tournament entry fee, Science Center admission and a certificate of participation. On-site registration is $20.00. REGISTER ONLINE >

Participants must know game play in order to compete. There will not be an instructional orientation.

Players who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place in the competition categories will receive a trophy at the 3:00pm Awards Ceremony.
