Segerstrom High School senior Jonathan Espinoza has done it again – even as he struggles to collect enough donations to pay for his registration fee at Georgetown University, he has landed an interview with NBC reporter Colleen Williams, to talk about Project SELF – “a program that helps low-income minorities in Orange County with internships at legal firms and how it has helped him pursue his future career,” according to NBC News.

Congratulations Jonathan!  I have a feeling those donations are going to really start rolling in now!

    • Not all lawyers are bad. Abe Lincoln was a lawyer.

What we don't need is more overpaid public employees!

  • Abe was honest. I've never seen a modern day lawyer who didn't see a bill he couldn't pad. I tell you what, I'll agree to less public employees if you agree to less lawyers.

    • No need to barter. Municipal agencies figured this out awhile ago. They are finally outsourcing the public jobs.

  • Hooray for Jonathan! His success is what keeps teachers like myself in SA going and fighting for their students. Best wishes.

  • Jonathan,

Congratulations on your acceptance to Georgetown University. You will make a great addition to the school's student body.

Do not get discouraged by negativity. Use it to make you stronger. This is the wost damage you can do to those that wish you failure.

Tap in to the Hispanic Bar Association for assistance. They should be enthusiastic to help as you will soon be a valuable member of their association.

God luck work hard and do not forget your roots. Be successful so you can help others like you.

  • Jonathan,

I apologize, it was a snide comment and should not have been used in a comment to something good like this.

Of course, I congratulate you on your accomplishments and wish you the best. Getting to Georgetown is an accomplishment in itself. Getting there by the seat of your pants, as you have done, should make it that much sweeter.

Good luck and, as Art says, don't forget your roots. May you return some day and use that knowledge you gain to help others.

  • "You will make a great addition to the school’s student body"....... Hmmmmmm

Providing that filthy rich Dr. Amalgam will pony up $900 in fees for an affirmative action fellow.

  • Jeff,

No worries, no hurt feelings, if I let people's words phase me I wouldn't get very far because then everyone would bring me down. I understand we all make mistakes sometimes. Take care!

      • "I don’t think affirmative action is right"..... Hmmmmm

Jonathan, I do not know exact figures and the value of your scholarship but I believe that it may be around 25K per semester + registration + housing + food + transportation + entertainment + etc. etc. etc.

If you can't figure out how to pay $900 for the registration, how do you planing to pay for the rest?

I am sure that you can get student loan or work part time.

You still will be ahead of a student from the so called middle white class who must get student loan for everything you would + 50K per year.

If you are planing to depend on the public donation for the rest of your life, later on via the taxation as a socialist, than you perhaps do not belong to Georgetown and if you smart (having IQ) than you should figure out the way around it.

Otherwise you are burden to the society.

As to you Admin, show me a picture of a white student who is as smart as Jonathan.

I didn't pay too much attention to the video flick but I do imagine that the program is directed to non white minority - reversed discrimination.

  • "As to you Admin, show me a picture of a white student who is as smart as Jonathan.

I didn't pay too much attention to the video flick but I do imagine that the program is directed to non white minority – reversed discrimination."

Jonathan's skin color looks white to me. Does Jonathan's skin color look Yellow, Brown or Black to any one?

No need for Administrator to show another picture as Jonathan is white.

Jonathan is white so the program can not be directed to non-white minorities nor can it be reverse discrimination.

    • "No need for Administrator to show another picture as Jonathan is white."....... Hmmmmm

He is as white as you are white Dr. Amalgam!

He also believes that he is entitled to get everything for free like you do.

He is young progresive socialists, another nail into the coffin of the free America.
