SAPD seeks help from the public in identifying a sexual predator

Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: Police seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a sexual predator, wanted for questioning in an attempt rape.

The Santa Ana Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a sexual predator, wanted for questioning in an attempt rape. Please direct the public to call Sex Crimes Detectives at (714) 245-8378 if they witnessed the crime or can provide information about the suspect.

Case Synopsis

On Sunday, January 20th at 5:30 in the afternoon, the victim parked her car in the driveway of her home in the residential neighborhood near 1100 W. 17th Street, Santa Ana. As she exited her vehicle, the suspect approached the victim, forcefully struck her in the face and shoved her back into her vehicle, holding her down as he sexually assaulted and tore the victim’s clothing.

The victim fought her assailant by striking him, screaming and honking the car horn. This caused the victim’s adult daughter to exit the home and assist her mother. The suspect fled on foot with his skateboard into the residential neighborhood near 1000 W. 15th Street, Santa Ana. The victim’s daughter solicited the help from a passerby and confronted the suspect who was now riding his skateboard. The suspect then ran east on 15th Street out of view of the victim’s daughter.

Suspect Description

Male, Hispanic, 15-20 years old, 5’5 to 5’7,” thin build with light acne on his face.
The suspect had a long black ponytail reaching to the middle of his back and his hair was described as “un-kept” by witnesses.

The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black “skinny” jeans.

Detectives believe the suspect may live, work, attend school or have friends in the area of northeast Santa Ana.
