SAPD looking for more victims of man who masturbated outside schools

Advisory: SAPD SEEKING PUBLIC’S HELP IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL VICTIMS OF MAN CHARGED WITH MASTURBATING INSIDE VAN OUTSIDE SCHOOL

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) are seeking the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of a man charged with masturbating inside a van while parked outside school parking lots. Carlos Sanchez Hernandez, 42, Santa Ana, is charged with two misdemeanor counts each of indecent exposure and child annoyance. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of two years in jail and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration. He is being held on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned today at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.

Between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on or around March 3, 2014 and June 4, 2014, Hernandez is accused of driving a white van near the location of Godinez Fundamental High School in Santa Ana and Carr Intermediate School in Santa Ana. He is accused of parking his van along a curb on St. Andrew Street near King Street located between the two schools. He is then accused of masturbating inside his van while staring and making eye contact with two high-school aged female students. The students contacted SAPD, who investigated this case, and arrested Hernandez on July 30, 2014.
