Santa Ana shooting suspect arrested in Buena Park

Johnell Marquise Jackson, a 38-year-old, was arrested by police in Buena Park and is considered a suspect in a shooting outside of a 99 Cents Only store in Santa Ana, according to the SAPD.

Jackson was arrested by SAPD officers after Buena Park police officers located the vehicle that Jackson was driving. The SAPD officers were able to nab Jackson after conducting a traffic stop.

SAPD police officers responded to the St. Joseph Hospital in Orange on Sunday, at around 9:45 p.m. when a man who had been shot in the forearm entered the emergency room. Hospitals have to report shooting vicitms to the local police.

The shooting victim told the police officers that he was inside his friend’s car next to the discount store at 1514 North Main Street when he heard gunshots and realized he had been struck by gunfire, according to the SAPD. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

A witness told the police officers that the male shooting suspect drove off in a white Ford Explorer. The police investigators are not yet certain if Jackson was targeting the victim or somebody else.

Jackson is on active Parole with the California Department of Corrections. He was interviewed by SAPD Homicide Detectives and booked at the Santa Ana Jail for PC 664(a)-187(a) – Attempt Homicide, various firearm-related charges, and a parole violation.

Jackson was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and other firearm-related charges, according to the SAPD.
