Santa Ana resident appointed as Co-Chair of the OC Health Improvement Partnership

MOMS ORANGE COUNTY CEO PAMELA PIMENTEL NAMED CO-CHAIR OF ORANGE COUNTY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PARTNERSHIP

Partnership Aims to Improve Health of Adults, Children and Infants Throughout Orange County

SANTA ANA, Calif. (March 10, 2017) – MOMS Orange County, a nonprofit organization serving low-income pregnant women for more than 25 years, is proud to announce the appointment of CEO, Pamela Pimentel, as the co-chair for the Orange County Health Improvement Partnership.

The Orange County Health Improvement Partnership leads the Orange County Healthier Together Initiative, which is dedicated to improving the health of communities in Orange County through community assessments and collaborations with community partners.

Pimentel is adding to her years of experience in community health in her new role with the Orange County Health Improvement Partnership. For the past 17 years, Pimentel has led MOMS Orange County in its mission of helping at-risk mothers and their families have healthy babies by providing access to prenatal care, health education, referral services, and infant development screenings.

“I am honored to continue my work in the community health sector by serving with the Orange County Health Improvement Partnership,” said Pamela Pimentel, RN, CEO of MOMS Orange County. “Improving the well-being of our community’s most vulnerable residents is my passion and life’s work, so I look forward to collaborating on a project that encompasses those same values to assist in the overall improvement of health in Orange County.”

Serving alongside David Souleles, Deputy Director, Public Health Services, Orange County Health Care Agency, Pimentel will use her extensive leadership experience to help execute the Orange County’s Health Improvement Partnership’s goal of improving four priority health areas: infant and child health, older adult health, obesity and diabetes, and mental health and substance use.

For over 25 years, MOMS Orange County has been helping at-risk mothers and their families have healthy babies by providing access to prenatal care, health screenings, infant development screenings, health education and referral services through monthly home visits and group classes. Mothers receive one-on-one education and support during pregnancy to help increase their chance of delivering a healthy baby. After babies are born, the focus turns to promoting their healthy growth and development so they grow up happy, healthy and ready to learn.
