Santa Ana Public Works Fleet Services maintains 98% of all city vehicles

The Fleet Services Division of the City of Santa Ana Public Works Agency is responsible for ensuring that city vehicles are available, dependable, cost effective, energy efficient and safe to operate. The City department purchases and maintains 98% of all city vehicles.

Fleet Services also provides scheduled maintenance to reduce overall vehicle operating costs, minimize downtime, and extend useful life. The Division prides themselves in our usage of cleaner fuel, alternatively fueled vehicles and environmentally friendly products.

Fleet is committed to the City of Santa Ana’s Sustainable City Goals and is a member of Clean Cities, a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy that promotes the use of alternative fuel vehicles. Santa Ana’s Fleet Services is one of the most innovative and progressive programs in the county.

The department provides maintenance and repair for approximately 609 vehicles and equipment, operating in compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements, which include vehicle smog inspections, OSHA and DOT safety standards, and EPA hazardous waste standards.

Fleet also offers nine on-site electrical charging stations, with another seven in development. Additional charging stations are planned for future expansion. These charging stations provide a vital component for transitioning the City’s infrastructure to a zero-emissions transportation environment for employee commuters and public visitors to City facilities.

In lieu of our charging stations, Fleet has over 15% hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles. Our goal is to add more alternative fuel vehicles as they become available in the market.
