Santa Ana now has 546 COVID-19 cases as of May 11

Today, May 11, the OC Health Care Agency reported a total of 3,557 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Orange County and 546 cases in Santa Ana. The Santa Ana case numbers don’t include infected inmates in County jails.

The California Department of Public Health today announced the most recent statistics on COVID-19. California now has 67,939 confirmed cases and 2,770 deaths.

Here is how other major cities in Orange County are faring:

• Anaheim reports 540 cases
• Huntington Beach reports 269 cases
• Garden Grove reports 181 cases
• Orange reports 173 cases
• Irvine reports 142 cases
• Buena Park reports 109 cases
• Newport Beach reports 130 cases
• Fullerton reports 128 cases
• Westminster reports 60 cases
• Tustin reports 57 cases
• Costa Mesa reports 50 cases
• Fountain Valley reports 41 cases

The CDC reports these nationwide cases:

• TOTAL CASES: 1,324,488
• 23,792 New Cases
• TOTAL DEATHS:79,756
• 985 New Deaths

Health Care Worker Infection Rates
As of May 10, local health departments have reported 7,211 confirmed positive cases in health care workers and 40 deaths statewide.

How People Can Protect Themselves and Others

Every person has a role to play. Protecting yourself and your family comes down to common sense: 

• Staying home except for essential needs/activities
• Practicing social distancing.
• Wearing a cloth face mask when out in public.
• Washing hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
• Avoiding touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
• Covering a cough or sneeze with your sleeve, or disposable tissue. Wash your hands afterward.
• Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
• Staying away from work, school or other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough.
• Following guidance from public health officials.

What to Do if You Think You’re Sick

Call ahead: If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough or shortness of breath), call your health care provider before seeking medical care so that appropriate precautions can be taken.
