A residential burglary detective recently identified a possible person of interest in numerous daytime residential burglaries, according to the Tustin Police Department.
Detectives conducted surveillance and identified the suspect’s usual patterns and habits during his day-to-day activities. On Monday, Detectives noticed the pattern had changed and believed the suspect was casing Tustin homes.
The Tustin Police Department’s Drone Team deployed and monitored the suspect as he drove from neighborhood to neighborhood. The drone was overhead and detectives were in the area when the suspect jumped a fence into a residence in the area of Yorba and 17th Street.
The suspect, a resident of Santa Ana with two prior convictions for residential burglary, was arrested as he walked to his vehicle. He was booked at Orange County Jail with a $1million bail.
Further investigation has tied him to 5 residential burglaries in the City of Tustin and one in the City of Anaheim. The Tustin Police Department anticipates that more victims will be identified as additional search warrants are completed.
The Tustin Police Department hopes this footage serves as a reminder that criminals can strike at any hour of any day.
