Santa Ana man gets 7 years in prison after a fatal stabbing in Orange

Vidal Almazan Jr., a 23-year-old Santa Ana man, was sentenced to seven years in prison in connection with a deadly assault in a bar in Orange, after he pleaded guilty on Friday, Sept. 11.

An additional murder charge wa dismissed after Almazan Jr. accepted the plea deal, according to the O.C. Regsister. Almazan has been held in jail since July 30, 2018.

There are also two do-defendants in this case. Co-defendant Antonio Jesus Brito, 21, faces the same charge as Almazan. A murder charge against Brito was also dismissed on June 23. He is next due in court on Dec. 11.

Co-defendant Daniel Almazan is currently a fugitive. He is charged with murder and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury with a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury.

The three suspects are accused in connection of killing 25-year-old Nicholas Glynn of Orange, after a bar fight on July 29, 2018, at the District Lounge, located at 223 W. Chapman Ave., just west of the Orange Circle.

The bar fight apparently had something to do with a disagreement involving a woman, that ultimately involved the three suspects, the victim and his friends.

When the fight broke out at the District Lounge, the suspects, the victim and his friend were all kicked out. Glynn and his friend were walking down the street when the suspects drove by and then got out of their car and attacked them, stabbing Glynn fatally in the process.

Daniel Almazan allegedly stabbed Glynn while Brito and Almazan allegedly beat up the other victim, who ended up needing 44 stitches in his face, according to the Prosecutor.
