On Sunday, September 10, 2023, at 2:50 AM, Santa Ana Police Communications received a report of a shooting victim at the 1400 block of S. Main Street.
Officers responded and located an adult male in a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso. Orange County Fire Authority arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
UPDATE: SAPD Homicide Detectives investigated the case and identified the suspect as Jose Manuel Quiroz (35) of Santa Ana.
On November 8, 2023, Quiroz was arrested during a service of multi-location search warrants at residences associated to the investigation in Santa Ana, Orange, and Sacramento.
On November 10, 2023, Deputy DA Tom Phan of the Orange County District Attorney’s office filed a felony complaint against Quiroz for PC 187(a) – murder, along with associated aggravating counts related to the crime. The homicide was believed to be gang-related.
