Santa Ana gangbanger captured after a police pursuit

Santa Ana Police Department

Advisory: Suspect Wanted In Pursuit and Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer Captured

Arrested: Jesse Angel Ramos (20) Santa Ana

Booking Charges: Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer, Felony Evading and Hit and Run Collision

Summary: Thursday, 2-25-16, at approximately 3:07PM, a SAPD motor officer attempted to stop a black Ford Mustang for traffic violations in the area of 5th and Jackson when the driver accelerated and failed to yield.

A pursuit ensued during which the suspect vehicle collided with a civilian’s vehicle and continued to flee. At one point, the suspect stopped and began backing directly at the motor officer, using the suspect vehicle as a weapon. The motor officer was able to avoid the suspect vehicle.

The suspect drove off and officers continued the pursuit until they lost sight of the vehicle. A license plate was obtained during the pursuit and the Mustang was located unoccupied in the driveway of the registered owner’s address in the 300 block of North Gunther Street. Officers searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him. The suspect was positively identified as Jesse Angel Ramos (20), a documented Santa Ana gang member.

On 3-1-2016, at approximately 4:45pm, an officer observed suspect Ramos at the intersection of 5th Street and Jackson. When they attempted to contact the suspect, he fled on foot into the neighborhood and hid inside a home in the 500 block of North Jackson. The homeowner, unaware that Ramos had entered his residence, allowed responding patrol officers to search for the suspect. Ramos was located inside and was taken into custody without incident. Ramos was transported to SAPD Jail where he was booked for ADW on a Police Officer, Felony Evading and Hit and Run Collision.
