Garden Grove police officers responded to 12300 Block of Haster St. for a major traffic collision.
Upon arrival, they discovered two adults and three minors injured as a result of a hit-and-run collision.
During the investigation, officers learned the adult bicyclists (victim #4 – 27-year-old male, victim #5 – 25-year-old female) were towing separate bicycle trailers containing their children (victim #1 – 7-month-old female, victim #2 – 5-year-old male, victim #3 – 7-year-old female), when a black 2003 Toyota Camry collided with them, then fled the scene.
Fortunately, a witness was able to follow the suspect vehicle, maintain visual, and communicate the information to dispatch, until officers arrived. A traffic stop was conducted and the solo occupant/driver (later identified as, Ceferino Ramos, 29-years-old, of Santa Ana) of the vehicle was detained. Sobriety tests were administered and Ramos was arrested for suspected DUI hit-and-run, and later booked into Orange County Jail.
The victims were treated by Orange County Fire Authority at the scene and later transported to a local hospital. Victim #5 has been released; victims #4, #3, and #2 remain in critical condition; and victim #1 remains in stable condition.
