The Santa Ana City Council will meet at 5 p.m. today, June 18, to continue a discussion and vote on the City budget and to consider other items pending from Tuesday’s meeting.
The Council adjourned the balance of its meeting Tuesday to discuss and take action on agenda items 75A through 90 today. In an effort to protect public health and prevent the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), there will be no in-person public meeting location.

The agenda includes:
• Adopt the fiscal year 2020-21 budget, changes to the city’s basic classification and compensation plan, the five-year Strategic Plan and the seven-year Capital Improvement Plan (NOTE: Public comments on this item were completed Tuesday and will not heard today.)
• Adopt a uniform schedule of miscellaneous fees for fiscal year 2020-2021;
• Approve pre-payment for the City’s contribution to both the miscellaneous and safety employee pension unfunded liability for fiscal year 2020-21 for a total amount not to exceed $47,964,199;
• Approve the Fairview Bridge replacement and street improvements from 9th Street to 16th Street;
• City Councilmembers Phil Bacerra, David Penaloza and Vicente Sarmiento are asking the Council to have the City Manager direct staff to research the creation of a police oversight commission;
• City Councilmembers Nelida Mendoza and Jose Solorio and Mayor Pro Tem Juan Villegas are asking the Council to direct the City Manager to provide $1.5 million to Santa Ana Unified School District to fund 2020 summer and fall programs, as well as bring back recommendations from the City Youth Commission to allocate another $1.5 million or more of this fiscal year’s allocation from the Youth Fund.
• Councilmember Jose Solorio is asking the Council to support the City providing public education, fine-based enforcement and prevention services related to the use of illegal fireworks through remainder of June and July.
