Santa Ana announces three more public hearings regarding possible changes to our ward boundaries

Community: Notice To Residents: Schedule of Public Hearings To Consider Amending City Ward Boundaries

The City of Santa Ana encourages the public to participate in the decision-making process. The following notice is sent to ensure that our community stays informed of a matter that may be important to you.

The City Council will hold the final three (3) Public Hearings to consider modifying the Ward boundaries to comply with both the Federal and California law, including the California Voting Rights Act (CVRA).

Two (2) Public Hearings seek input from the community of the draft map(s) presented for consideration, select a preferred Ward map and introduce the ordinance that will set the new Ward boundaries. Hearing dates are:

• Tuesday, May 15th at 5:45 p.m. – Regular City Council Meeting, Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA

• Saturday, May 19th at 11:30 a.m.- Adjourned Regular City Council Meeting, Southwest Senior Center, 2201 W. McFadden Ave, Santa Ana, CA

The last Hearing will be to adopt the ordinance setting the new Ward boundaries. The City Charter requires new Ward Boundary Map to be approved by a 2/3 affirmative vote of the City Council and at least 120 days before an election. Hearing date will be held:

• Tuesday, June 5th at 5:45 p.m. – Regular City Council Meeting, Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA

If you are not able to attend the public hearing(s), you may submit your comments or provide your “community of interest” for consideration. A web-based platform is available to submit your “Community of Interest” maps for consideration, at: http://www.ci.santa-ana.ca.us/coc/elections.asp

All maps, suggestions and comments will be carefully reviewed and considered. Please submit on or before May 17, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. to ensure adequate review time to Santa Ana City Hall, Clerk of the Council, 20 Civic Center Plaza 8th Floor, Santa Ana, CA 92701 or via e-mail at ecomments@santa-ana.org.

All proposed Ward maps, staff reports and copies of legal notices are available for public inspection in the Clerk of the Council Office during regular business hours and posted on the City’s website. AVISO A LOS RESIDENTES: PROGRAMA DE AUDIENCIAS PÚBLICAS PARA CONSIDERAR ENMENDAR LINDEROS DE SECTORES

La Ciudad de Santa Ana alienta al público a participar en el proceso de toma de decisiones. El aviso siguiente se envía para asegurar que nuestra comunidad permanezca informada sobre un asunto que puede ser importante para usted.

El Concejo Municipal tendrá las tres (3) Audiencias Públicas finales para considerar mo¬dificar los linderos de los Sectores para cumplir con la ley Federal y de California, que incluye la Ley de Derechos Electorales de California (CVRA, por sus siglas en inglés).

Dos (2) Audiencias Públicas para solicitar opiniones de los residentes sobre borradores de mapa/s presentados para consideración, seleccionar un mapa de Sectores preferido y presentar la ordenanza que fijará los nuevos linderos de los Sectores. Las fechas de las Audiencias son:

• Martes, 15 de mayo a las 5:45 PM – Sesión Ordinaria del Concejo Municipal, Cámara del Ayuntamiento, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA

• Sábado, 19 de mayo a las 11:30 AM – Sesión Ordinaria Aplazada del Concejo Municipal, Southwest Senior Center, 2201 W. McFadden Ave, Santa Ana, CA

La última Audiencia será para adoptar la ordenanza que fije los nuevos linderos de Sectores. Los Estatutos Municipales requieren que cualquier Mapa de Linderos de Sectores nuevo sea aprobado por un voto afirmativo de 2/3 del Concejo Municipal y cuando menos 120 días antes de una elección. La Audiencia tendrá lugar el:

• Martes, 5 de junio a las 5:45 PM – Sesión Ordinaria del Concejo Municipal, Cámara del Ayuntamiento, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA

Si no puede asistir a la/s audiencia/s pública/s, puede presentar sus comentarios o proveer su “comunidad de interés” para consideración. Está disponible una plataforma por internet para presentar sus mapas de “Comunidad de Interés” para consideración, en: http://www.ci.santa-ana.ca.us/coc/elections.asp

Se revisará y considerará detenidamente todo mapa, sugerencia y comentario. Favor de presentarlos antes del 17 de mayo del 2018 a las 5:00 PM, para garantizar tiempo adecuado de revisión, al Ayuntamiento de Santa Ana, Secretaria Municipal, 20 Civic Center Plaza 8o Piso, Santa Ana, CA 92701 o por e-mail a ecomments@santa-ana.org.

Todo mapa de Sectores propuesto, informe del personal y copias de los avisos legales están disponibles para inspección del público en la Oficina de la Secretaria Municipal durante el horario regular de oficina, y desplegados en el sitio web de la Ciudad.
