REP. LORETTA SANCHEZ WELCOMES NEW STAFF, INTERNS TO WASHINGTON, DC AND GARDEN GROVE OFFICES
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Washington, DC- Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) today announced the addition of new staffer Michelle Wynne to her Garden Grove office and summer interns to her Washington, D.C. and Garden Grove offices.
In light of looming budget cuts and growing service needs, Congresswoman Sanchez has improved her office grants assistance program. Michelle Wynne joins the Congresswoman’s office as Grants Coordinator, focusing on providing guidance on funding opportunities that will benefit local programs. Most recently with Anonymous LLC as a development consultant, Michelle has worked for many local organizations including the MIND Research Institute, Inside the Outdoors Foundation and the Festival of Children Foundation to build foundation partnerships and grant opportunities. Michelle is originally from Northern California but has worked and lived in Orange County for seven years.
“I’m looking forward to having Michelle focus on helping organizations navigate through the federal grant system by assisting organizations with letters of support; following-up on applications and informing stakeholders of application progress; and holding regular grant writing seminars,” said Sanchez.
Additionally, Rep. Sanchez is proud to announce the interns selected for the summer internship program. The following individuals have begun internships in the Congresswoman’s Washington, DC office.
Eduardo Calderon is from Garden Grove, California and is part of Cal State Fullerton’s DC Scholar’s program. He is a current senior at Cal State Fullerton, studying political science. He is currently working with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as a traffic collision investigator.
Danielle Butterfield just graduated from Chapman University where she studied political science, advertising and women’s studies. As a Chapman Provost Scholar, Danielle has actively participated in numerous student activities and volunteer organizations while at Chapman.
Melissa Miller is a rising sophomore at Duke University and is double majoring in public policy and women’s studies. She is interested in women in the military.
Molly Quirk, a graduate of Fullerton Union High School, recently graduated from Bradley University in Illinois where she studied political science. She is interested in women’s issues, environmental and agricultural policy, and security/defense issues.
Claudia Velasco is a participant in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus intern program. She is from Johnson City, Tennessee, and is a sophomore at Union University. She is a business and philosophy major.
The following individuals have begun internships in the Congresswoman’s Garden Grove office.
Adan Juarez attends the University of Pennsylvania and he is currently a sophomore majoring in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. He is a staff worker for the Daily Pennsylvanian and a designer for the Penn Political Review.
Hannah Dell attends Charlotte School of Law. She received a Bachelors’ degree in Organizational Studies from University of La Verne. Hannah also works with the Brea Police Department as an administrative clerk.
Fetullah Yilmaz finished his last year at the University of Arizona with Political Science and Near Eastern Studies majors. He was involved with Model United Nations and the Turkish Students Association.
Mahruk Madad is finishing her last quarter at the University of California, Irvine, majoring in Social Ecology. She has participated at the Council of Pakistani American Affairs and was a regional advisor at the International Leadership Foundation in Washington D.C.
“I’m also happy to welcome our new interns who will have an opportunity to work and learn more about what a congressional office does and its many functions ranging from legislative efforts and constituent services,” said Sanchez.
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is proud to represent California’s 47th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, and parts of Fullerton in Orange County. She serves as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces and a senior member of the Committee on Homeland Security. Rep. Sanchez is also a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and sits on the bipartisan, bicameral Joint Economic Committee.
