SANCHEZ CONGRATULATES TALLER SAN JOSE ON SIGNIFICANT GRANT AWARD

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) is pleased to announce that Taller San Jose in Santa Ana will receive a substantial part of $3 million in grant funds from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS)’s Social Innovation Fund intermediary, the Roberts Enterprise Development Fund (REDF). The funds will be split between Taller San Jose and at least two other recipient organizations.

Taller San Jose is a workforce development organization for at-risk young adults in Orange County. Its programs provide young adults who have gotten off track in life with the job training and life skills they need to find employment and be successful. Taller San Jose and REDF will use the grant funds in conjunction with Hope Builders, Inc., an innovative construction social enterprise launched by Taller San Jose, to expand employment opportunities for at-risk young adults. Hope Builders, Inc. is a licensed contracting venture that employs graduates of Taller San Jose’s construction training program to build affordable housing in Orange and Los Angeles counties.

I am so pleased Taller San Jose has secured this grant money in conjunction with REDF,” said Sanchez. “These funds will help to develop Taller San Jose’s Hope Builder enterprise, giving Orange County’s at-risk young adults expanded opportunities for employment. Taller San Jose gives our youth hope and gets them back on the right track. I know the positive changes this organization has brought upon our community and I am glad to know Orange County will soon benefit even more from its invaluable services.”

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is proud to represent California’s 47th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, and parts of Fullerton in Orange County. She serves as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces and a senior member of the Committee on Homeland Security. Rep. Sanchez is also a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and sits on the bipartisan, bicameral Joint Economic Committee.
