The SAPD has posted a recap of the firearm seizures their police officers were involved in for the week of Feb. 26 to March 4.
SAPD gang detectives developed information regarding a known criminal street gang member in possession of firearms. The detectives obtained search warrants and with the assistance of Field Operations, Special Investigations, Metropolitan Detectives and SWAT the warrants were served at four separate locations.
The suspect was contacted at his residence and detained without incident. Two assault rifles and a semi-automatic pistol were recovered.
While conducting proactive enforcement SAPD police officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop for a traffic violation. The driver failed to yield and a police pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit terminated at the intersection of McFadden Ave. and Hickory Street where the suspect vehicle collided with a fence.
Following the collision two occupants of the suspect vehicle discarded two loaded 9mm ghost guns on the front lawn of a residence.
SAPD police officers responded to a shots fired call inside a residence. The officers evacuated the house safely and conducted a safety sweep.
During the safety sweep the police officers found a spent 9mm casing in plain sight. During a further search of the residence the officers located a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
SAPD gang detectives stopped a vehicle in the area of 1100 S. Pacific Ave. for traffic violations. Three subjects attempted to flee from the vehicle. They were quickly detained without incident.
The detectives observed a semi-automatic firearm in the vehicle’s center console. The driver of the vehicle was an admitted gangbanger with previous convictions for firearm violations.

Upon searching the room, officers located a loaded .45 caliber 1911 handgun and a Ruger AR-15 rifle with two 30 round magazines, later determined to be stolen.
