Protesters decry latest SAPD shooting while guard says victim attacked him

About 30 showed up to protest the Santa Ana Police Department.  They question whether the 5 deadly police shootings in the city this year were justified. “We want to let Santa Ana Police know that they are out of control and that we want them to stop killing the citizens of Santa Ana.  This is the 5th person they’ve killed in their city this year,” said Terri Teramura, a local activist, according to Fox News.

But a security guard, who wished to remain unidentified, told CBS News, that on July 12—two weeks before Hans Kevin Arellano was shot once in the chest in a shopping center parking lot during a confrontation with a female veteran officer—he got into a physical altercation with the suspect outside of Northgate Market on Harbor Boulevard.

Apparently Arellano stole a beer and when the security guard confronted him, the beer can ended up being used as a weapon. The security guard tried to mace Arellano but ended up macing himself.

All that aside, should our police execute troubled homeless men, who are unarmed?  Of course not and that is the crux of this story.

CBS also posted a video shot by a witness, that clearly shows that Arellano was unarmed.

  • Execute homeless? Most homeless in Santa Ana and in Orange county are your typical mentally ill people due to an extensive use of illegal drugs. They become paranoid, bi-polar, etc. Have you ever fought one of these people? They feel no pain and are very strong (size does not matter). Lets say you are a police officer and you are chasing someone. Usually people run away from police because they are wanted (like this guy was for robbery), they are armed or they have drugs on their person. YOU, as a police officer don't know if they are armed and you don't take any chances with your life. The suspect created the situation by their actions. You then order the suspect at gunpoint to surrender and get on the ground. The suspect goes after you as your gun is out......What do you think he/she is trying to do? Well, probably take your gun and disarm you and then kill you. What are you supposed to do? Holster you gun and take you Taser out as he is attacking you? What do you thin is going to happen if you do that? I will tell you...you are going to get killed or badly injured. The Taser is NOT a replacement for a firearm. Once you shoot it....that's it.....that was your only shot and many times it doesn't affect people on drugs and mentally ill subjects. This incidents occurs within seconds.....and withing 5'-10'.....Think about it....Santa Ana is full of these people all over...look around from east First to Euclid....THis guy was such a nice guy..why he didn't live with his kids and family??? Because he was a drug addict, and was a ROBBERY wanted suspect. As many others he will become someone's PAYCHECK.....How sad.....
