Over 130 pets were adopted at OC Animal Care last weekend with help from Supervisor Foley

This past weekend, O.C. Supervisor Katrina Foley partnered with OC Animal Care to host an animal adoption event at the OC Animal Care shelter. Supervisor Foley was hoping to get 100 pets adopted, and exceeded the goal with a total of 130 animals being adopted, with over 90 cats and 30 dogs finding new homes.

The pet adoption began at 10am, and the first pet found her new home at 10:01 am. A dog named Ivy was adopted by Ann Shaonstorom of Irvine. Cash, a dog who appeared on Good Day LA on Friday, was adopted by The Gurillen family from Fullerton, who drove out just to bring Cash home after seeing him on TV.

Supervisor Foley shared that animal shelters across the County are over capacity, including OC Animal Care. By partnering for Animal Adoption Day, the shelter and Supervisor hoped to encourage the public to adopt, foster, or volunteer with Orange County shelters to support homeless pets.

For the rest of September, Supervisor Foley is continuing to waive adoption fees for the first 200 pets, so there’s still time for FREE animal adoptions if anyone is still looking! Each adopted animal comes with a microchip, vaccinations, spay or neutering, and an anti-parasite treatment.
