Orientation and resources in Spanish for Santa Ana small business owners

The City of Santa Ana has partnered with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Orange County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to host an interactive, virtual orientation and resources meeting for Spanish-speaking small business owners on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at 3 p.m.

The free Orientation and Resources for Small Businesses meeting will be facilitated in Spanish and will cover the following:

• SBA services and resources
• OC SBDC’s free business consultations and workshops
• City of Santa Ana grants, resources and services
• Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)
• Employment Development Department (EDD) Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)

The meeting will allow for questions and answers after each segment of information and encourage dialogue in order identify best practices among the business community. Spanish-speaking business owners, independent contractors and self-employed individuals are welcome to participate for free.

“I worked to organize this event so that our Spanish-speaking business owners can understand and access all of the resources available to help them during this crisis,” Mayor Pro Tem Juan Villegas said. “Small businesses are an essential part of the Santa Ana economy.”

“We are pleased to collaborate with the City of Santa Ana and our funded resource partner, the Orange County SBDC, to bring an overview of information and resources in Spanish to the local business community. This is yet another tool whereby the SBA is helping Hispanic business owners recover, grow and thrive,” said Adalberto Quijada, SBA Orange County / Inland Empire District Director. “When Hispanic-owned businesses grow, entire communities thrive, positively impacting families for generations.”

Business owners may participate in the meeting by simply calling in. However, businesses are encouraged to participate virtually through a computer, laptop or tablet in order to see the presentation slides and resource links that will be discussed throughout the meeting.

The goal of this interactive meeting is to provide valuable information that will help business owners during the COVID-19 pandemic. Business owners are encouraged to invite family members or friends who have access to a laptop, computer or tablet in order to view the presentation slides and the resource websites.
