Orange County Philanthropists to be Honored
27th Annual National Philanthropy Day Orange County
ORANGE COUNTY, CA– Submissions are now being accepted by the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals for businesses, corporations, schools, nonprofits and individuals for the 2012 National Philanthropy Day Orange County (NPDOC) Awards Luncheon, the premier awards ceremony in Orange County honoring groups and individuals for their outstanding philanthropy in the community.
Deadline for submissions is May 25, 2012, and submissions may be completed online here.
NPDOC has become the most prominent philanthropic recognition event in Orange County, with over 1000 honorees since its inception in 1985 including honors in past years for OC philanthropists Donald Bren, Doug Freeman, Marion Knott, Henry and Susan Samueli, and Henry Segerstrom.
Marybelle and Sebastian Paul Musco, the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Outstanding Honorees, will be Honorary Chairs for this year’s 27th annual event.
NPDOC award categories include:
· Outstanding Lifetime Achievement
· Outstanding Founder
· Outstanding Philanthropic Group
· Outstanding Philanthropist
· Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser
· Outstanding Youth or Youth Group
· Outstanding Large Corporation or Business
· Outstanding Mid-Size Corporation or Business
· Outstanding Small Corporation or Business
All nominees will be recognized and will receive a recognition letter from NPD founder and Orange County resident Doug Freeman. One Outstanding Honoree in each of the nine categories will be on stage to represent his or her peers at the luncheon and will receive an award. The nine Outstanding Honorees are named in late July.
The 2012 NPDOC Awards Luncheon, with the theme “Giving is Always in Season,” will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Orange County located at 11999 Harbor Blvd., Garden Grove, CA.
ABOUT NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY: National Philanthropy Day Orange County honors those who have demonstrated philanthropy and enhanced their communities and the world. Each year more than 100 Association of Fundraising Professionals chapters throughout the US and Canada honor the philanthropic efforts of individuals, businesses, and groups. Net proceeds of the event support the ethical advancement of philanthropy in the community by the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Notice how we always hear about what groups these "philanthropists" are giving their charity to, but very little about how these same people actually made their money? I'm not assuming that is necessarily a diversion, but it sometimes is.
