Orange County monkeypox vaccine clinic set for August 16

Families Together is hosting its first monkeypox vaccine clinic in Orange County for those who are eligible, on August 16, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 150 N. Myrtle Ave. Tustin.

Eligibility will be determined upon arrival according to CDC guidelines for the vaccine. Patients will be served upon order of arrival. Note that the vaccine supply is extremely limited and is only available for eligible Orange County residents and existing Families Together patients.

All patients will receive a consultation with a provider prior to obtaining the vaccine to determine eligibility. All patients must bring valid photo identification and proof of insurance.

CDC recommends vaccination for people who have been exposed to monkeypox and people who may be more likely to get monkeypox. People more likely to get monkeypox include:

• People who have been identified by public health officials as a contact of someone with monkeypox
  People who are aware that one of their sexual partners in the past 2 weeks has been diagnosed with monkeypox
• People who had multiple sexual partners in the past 2 weeks in an area with known monkeypox

Second doses should be distributed 28 days after the first dose. A second vaccine clinic will be held in September. Patients are protected 14 days after the second dose.
