Orange County K-9 Skateboarding Competition set for August 18

Zignature, a premium dog food brand of Pets Global, Inc., known for its limited-ingredient formulas, announces its title sponsorship of the K-9 Skate Academy’s first annual World K9 Sk8 Competition. The X Games-style event will feature competing skateboarding dogs and a Guinness World Record attempt, and will take place Sunday, August 18, 2024 at McKenna Volkswagen of Huntington Beach in California.

This first-of-its-kind event is open to the public, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the English Bulldog-focused Chunkz and Tubz Rescue Foundation, and Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue, for its Pawsitive Change program, partnering incarcerated individuals with at-risk shelter dogs in the state of California.

“When we heard about this event, we knew we had to be involved,” says Ellie Mosser, Community Relations Specialist at Pets Global. “Not only is this an amazing way to support local rescues, it’s just such a unique concept, and honestly, so cool. Skateboarding dogs? For charity? Who wouldn’t want to be a part of this?”

Ryan Lynch, founder of the SoCal-based K-9 Skate Academy, along with his skateboarding bulldog Henny, are also excited for the global potential of this inaugural event which brings together an international skateboarding community he’s been growing for years.

“This event was created to have my dog, Skateboard Henny live on forever and bring her and my passion to skating dogs around the world!”

In addition to the judged freestyle K-9 skateboarding portion, the first annual World K9 Sk8 Competition will include a relay race, a community skater and BMX biker time allotted for human participants, food, artists, live music, and multiple local, skateboarding, and pet industry-related vendors.
