As of today the O.C. Health Care Agency is reporting that there are 17 cases of Covid-19, the novel Coronavirus, in Orange County.
Eleven of these cases are travel-related. Three were contacted via person-to-person spread and three more were community acquired.
So far no deaths are reported.
Twelve of the victims are male and 5 are female. Seven of them are in the 18-49 age group and 6 are in the 50 to 64 age group while four are over 65.
There is now laboratory evidence of community transmission in Orange County, indicating that COVID-19 is likely spreading in the community.
People aged 65 and older, and those with chronic health conditions (heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease) should stay home.
All residents should practice good health hygiene which includes washing your hands, staying home if you are sick, avoiding close contact with people who are sick and covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your sleeve (not hands).
As of 3/15: The total number of people tested by HCA Public Health Lab (PHL) = 160. HCA PHL has kits available to test 1,098 specimens.

I wish we were advised which cities these cases are in. I was sick with symptoms only to be told I didn’t meet criteria because I didn’t travel. I fear there are many undetected cases because tests are limited.
Agreed. They are supposedly opening drive thru testing this week. We will see if that happens. I’m aware they have denied many people tests as well even those with health conditions, like myself but since I wasn’t out of the country, I have to contact my doctor for a test.
Cut non-essential retail hours and enforce occupancy limits. Close bars and limit restaurants to take-out or delivery only. People won't comply with social distancing until it's too inconvenient for them. I feel like government officials are not taking this seriously enough.
Please there are enough people being stupid. Yes this is of great consen but keep a level head. The test are for people with number one a high fever then the common flu symptoms that can be very sever. And if you had any contact with anything outside of the country. Its simple. Every year we have many deaths from the flu but noone even pays attention. This is a wake up call for the the things that we should have already been doing everyday. Please be kind stay level headed. And do not panic. We as a nation have plenty of food plenty of toilet paper and our goverment has done a pretty damn good job at getting a handle on this. Lets be thankful
