OneOC Senior Symposium set for July 23 in Santa Ana

OneOC is hosting a 2015 Senior Symposium on Thursday, July 23 8:30 am – 3:00 pm that will connect seniors with technology, help them avoid scams and abuse, understand depression, drive safer, travel longer, and eat well, and encourage them to engage with their communities and volunteer more often.

This is OneOC’s premiere event informs retirees and active adults 50+ and connects them with their local communities and volunteer opportunities. The event features noted guest speakers on topic related to Health and Wellness, Prevention Education, Disaster Preparedness, Healthy Eating and more.

There will also be an invitation-only 4th Annual Presidential “Lifetime Achievement” Awards Luncheon at 11:45 am that will feature keynote speaker David Paine, President and Co-founder of the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. More than 100 Retired and Senior Volunteers will receive the prestigious “Call to Service Award,” recognizing those who have served 4,000+ hours, Volunteers with 10, 15 or 20+ years of service to their community will be honored. In Orange County these seniors donated over 180,000 hours last year to community service, representing a $4.7 million value. Cindy Burns, creator, producer and performer with the Funniest Housewives of Orange County, will close the Symposium.

Event sponsors include Silverado, Independence at Home, a SCAN community service; Pacific Life Foundation; Edwards Lifesciences Foundation; American Advisors Group; and Automobile Club of Southern California.

COST: FREE (space is limited). Hotel parking $6, honorees will be validated.
