OCDA TO HOST INFORMATION BOOTH AT CINCO DE MAYO FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND TO CELEBRATE MEXICAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE

SANTA ANA – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) is proud to participate in the 15th Annual Cinco de Mayo celebration this Sunday, May 4, 2014, starting at 11:00 a.m. This family festival will be held in downtown Santa Ana on 4th Street between Main Street and French Street.

The festival is in honor of Mexican heritage and pride and will feature live music and performances, games, prizes, carnival rides, food, art and culture vendors, and exhibitors from local businesses, government, and law enforcement agencies. Each year, over 150,000 people attend the festivities. The festival is free and open to the public.

In order to encourage community participation in law enforcement and community awareness regarding public safety, the OCDA Government and Community Relations Unit will host a booth. They will be speaking with visitors and handing out information in English and Spanish. The resource materials will cover information regarding victim/witness rights and resources, crime prevention, the importance of reporting crime, cooperating with law enforcement, the criminal justice system, the negative consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, identity theft, and domestic violence.
