PROPERTY TAXES MAILED OUT TO PROPERTY OWNERS FOR NOVEMBER 1, 2011 DUE DATE

Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector Shari L. Freidenrich, CPA, announced that the Secured Property tax bills will be mailed between October 11 and October 25, to the names of the property owners shown on the most recent tax roll. The current and prior year’s tax bills will also be available online after October 11, 2011 at http://bos.ocgov.com/octaxbill. If you do not receive a property tax bill by November 10, 2011, you can obtain a copy of the property tax bill by going to the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s website, e-mailing a request to ttcinfo@ttc.ocgov.com, coming into the Office of the Treasurer-Tax Collector at 625 North Ross Street in Santa Ana or calling the office at (714) 834-3411.

The first installment of the 2011-2012 property taxes is due and payable on November 1, 2011 and will become delinquent if not paid by December 12, 2011. The second installment is due February 1, 2012 and will become delinquent if not paid by April 10, 2012. Payments must have a USPS postmark date on or before the last payment date and payments made using home banking must be received by the Treasurer on or before the last payment date to avoid incurring a 10% late penalty.

Treasurer Freidenrich has implemented and enhanced several new customer service features that are now available. Tax payments processed by midnight using the County Treasurer’s website at http://bos.ocgov.com/octaxbill will be accepted as timely payment of taxes, a change from the prior 5 pm deadline. The 2010-11, 2011-12 and future tax bills will now be available for viewing on the County’s Treasurer’s website, whereas previously only the current year tax bill copy was available. The printing of the current tax bills cost approximately 25% less than last year’s tax bills, providing valuable savings to the County. Treasurer Freidenrich encourages taxpayers to “Go Green” and pay your property tax bill on-line by eCheck at “no cost” using your bank account at http://bos.ocgov.com/octaxbill. Another new enhancement is use of the QR code below which also is on the insert to be mailed with the tax bills. Just scan the QR code with your smartphone and it will take you directly to the Treasurer’s tax information webpage to view and pay your property tax bill. Treasurer Freidenrich also encourages taxpayers to sign up for an email reminder at http://bos.ocgov.com/taxreminder to receive a reminder email to pay property taxes approximately 10 days before each installment’s final payment due date.
