OC Streetcar construction alert

Preparation work for the O.C. Streetcar track installation is ongoing in Segment 2. Preparation work requires full lane and parking closures on Santa Ana Boulevard from Raitt Street to Shelton Street.

  • Full closure of the north side of Santa Ana Boulevard
  • Full parking closure along the north side of Santa Ana Boulevard
  • Shift of a single lane of eastbound traffic to the south side of Santa Ana Boulevard
  • Westbound traffic is detoured north or south starting at Bristol Street

Foundation installation for the poles necessary to carry the overhead wiring of the OC Streetcar will continue along the streetcar route.

  • Construction activities include excavation, trenching, concrete pours and road work and restoration
  • Tree trimming and tree removals may be necessary along the streetcar route. Crews will follow all necessary guidelines for monitoring possible bird nesting’s with an arborist
  • Temporary parking and lane closures may be in place

Water pipeline and storm drain work will continue along the streetcar route.

  • Construction activities include excavation, trenching, installation of water pipelines and storm drains, and road work and restoration
  • Temporary parking and lane restrictions may be in place

Access will be maintained for all residents and businesses. Construction activities are dependent on weather and resource availability.

SEGMENT 1 CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

Intersection of Harbor Blvd. and Westminster Ave. to Raitt St.

Over the next two weeks, Segment 1 construction activities will include:

  • Preliminary work at the site of the future Maintenance Storage Facility
  • Storm drain installation within the PEROW
  • Water pipeline installation at Harbor Boulevard
  • Santa Ana River Bridge construction
  • Westminster Avenue Bridge construction

Water pipeline work will require temporary detours as well as lane closures at Harbor Boulevard near the PEROW.

SEGMENT 2 CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

Raitt St. to Parton St.

Over the next two weeks, Segment 2 construction activities will include:

  • Preparation for track installation on W. Santa Ana Boulevard from Raitt Street to Bristol Street
  • Manhole installation on Raitt Street
  • Tree trimming at city arborist approved locations along W. Santa Ana Boulevard from Raitt Street to Parton Street

Preparation work for track installation will require a full closure of the north side of W. Santa Ana Boulevard, eastbound traffic will be shifted to the south side of W. Santa Ana Boulevard. Westbound traffic will be detoured north or south at Bristol Street. Additionally, a parking closure on the north side of W. Santa Ana Boulevard will be in place.

SEGMENT 3 CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

Ross St. to Mortimer St.

Over the next two weeks, Segment 3 construction activities will include:

  • Water pipeline installation on W. Santa Ana Boulevard and Bush Street
  • Storm drain installation on Broadway from 3rd Street to W. Santa Ana Boulevard
  • Storm drain installation on Main Street from 3rd Street to W. Santa Ana Boulevard
  • Tree trimming at city arborist approved locations along W. Santa Ana Boulevard from Ross Street to Mortimer Street

Storm drain and water pipeline installation will require temporary detours as well as lane and parking closures on Broadway, W. Santa Ana Boulevard and Main Street

SEGMENT 4 CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

Ross St. to Mortimer St.

Over the next two weeks, Segment 4 construction activities will include:

  • Potholing for sewer pipeline installation on 4th Street between French Street and Mortimer Street
  • Sewer pipeline installation will require temporary detours as well as lane and parking closures on French Street and 4th Street

SEGMENT 5 CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

Mortimer St. to SARTC

Over the next two weeks, Segment 5 construction activities will include:

  • Fire service installation and testing on E. Santa Ana Boulevard at Minter Street and at Garfield Street
  • Water pipeline installation and testing on E. Santa Ana Boulevard and Santiago Street
  • Tree trimming at city arborist approved locations along E. Santa Ana Boulevard from Mortimer Street to SARTC

Water pipeline and fire service installation will require temporary detours as well as lane and parking closures on E. Santa Ana Boulevard and Santiago Street.

Safety of the crews and community is our top priority. Please slow down near work sites and follow pedestrian instructions.

Two-Hour Free Parking

The first two hours of parking are free in parking structures in Downtown Santa Ana.

About the Project

OC Streetcar is the first modern streetcar project to be built in Orange County and will serve Santa Ana’s historic and thriving downtown, which includes federal, state and local courthouses, government offices, colleges, an artists’ village and a thriving restaurant scene. Expected to begin carrying passengers in 2022, it will operate along a 4.15-mile route that connects the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC) and a new transit hub at Harbor Boulevard and Westminster Avenue in Garden Grove.
