OC Animal Care to offer free pet adoptions on California Adopt-a-Pet Day this Saturday

TUSTIN, Calif. (May 30, 2024) – In honor of the first California Adopt-a-Pet Day, on Saturday, June 1, OC Animal Care is offering free adoptions and resource connections.

Thanks to support from CalAnimals, ASPCA, and SFSPCA, OC Animal Care is waiving fees for every adoptable animal. Southern California shelters and rescues are full, and with the busy summer months ahead, we anticipate an even greater influx of animals in need of care. By adopting a pet for free on June 1, you not only gain a loving companion, but also help create space for us to assist more animals in our community.

Adopt-a-Pet Day Activities:

  • 11 a.m. to 5p.m. – Visitors are welcome to pre-schedule or request the next available one-on-one adoption visit to spend time with a particular pet they are interested in adopting.
  • 12 to 5 p.m. – Viewing Hours will begin at 12 p.m. on June 1. Visitors are welcome to drop by to walk through and view ready-to-go-home dogs and cats during viewing hours.
  • 12 to 5 p.m. – Join us for Resource Connections:
    • Sittin’ with Kittens: Meet kittens and their foster families. Our amazing fosters will showcase kittens that have been in foster care and are now ready to find their new families.
    • Foster Pooches on the Patio: Meet dogs getting a break from the shelter and hear directly from their foster families. Each foster will give you all the information you need to know about their foster dog and if that dog will be a great fit for your family – what they love, favorite snacks, housetraining routine, and so much more.
    • Resource Information: Visit informational booths like Ask the Trainer, where you’ll get to meet with OC Animal Care staff and ask basic dog training questions. Ask the Groomer, where you can learn about different pet brushes and grooming tricks and tips. And don’t forget to stop by various booths to learn about OC Animal Care trucks, how to volunteer at OC Animal Care, and foster opportunities.

Please note that personal pets are not able to accompany you to OC Animal Care. For more information, please visit ocpetinfo.com/PetDay.

OC Animal Care is located at 1630 Victory Road, Tustin, CA 92782.
