O.C. man arrested with the help of four law enforcement agencies after attacking officers

Seal Beach, CA — On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at approximately 8:48 AM, police officers responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious individual reported to be “banging on cars and climbing in trees” in the 300 block of 7th Street, according to the Seal Beach Police Department.

Upon arrival, the responding officer observed the suspect kicking a parked car and attempted to detain him. An altercation ensued between the suspect and the officer, leading to the arrival of additional officers for assistance. During the confrontation, the suspect assaulted two officers before fleeing on foot.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside a utility room at a nearby vehicle repair shop.

Officers from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit, the Cypress Police Department, and the Los Alamitos Police Department responded to assist. After approximately 60 minutes of negotiations, officers made entry into the utility room and successfully apprehended the suspect without further incident.

Both officers involved in the altercation sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect was also transported to a hospital for medical clearance.

The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Seal Beach resident Jordan Molina. Molina has been charged with two counts of Penal Code 69 (resisting or deterring an officer by force). The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.

The Seal Beach Police Department extends its gratitude to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the Cypress Police Department, and the Los Alamitos Police Department for their swift assistance in this incident. The Seal Beach Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this event.
