NESALL to host the District 30 Challenger All Star Little League game

Northeast Santa Ana Little League (NESALL) will host the District 30 Challenger All Star Game on Saturday May 19, 2012 @ 9:00 am. Please come out and support these great kids as they battle their physical challenges to play a game of baseball. It is an uplifting experience for these children to play the field, hit the ball, and run the bases. Your cheers of support as they play this game brings so much joy to their lives.

As we move forward into next season we hope to identify volunteers and players who want to take part in a Santa Ana Challenger team. Please come out and see what it is all about. If you have friends or neighbors with children with special needs, please forward this invitation to them and encourage them to come out and get information about the program.

The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. Today, more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide.

In a Challenger game, each player gets a chance to bat. The side is retired when the offense has batted through the roster, or when a pre-determined number of runs have been scored, or when three outs are recorded. Little League recommends that no score be kept during Challenger games. The Challenger players wear the same uniforms, shoulder patches and safety equipment as other Little League players.

NE SANTA ANA LITTLE LEAGUE IS AN INSTITUTION. For fifty years it has ignored politics, race and social pressure to bring solid youth baseball to the community.
