Martinez will face off against Supervisor Do in the November General Election

Santa Ana City Councilwoman Michele Martinez advanced to the November General Election as she made the top two in the Primary Election in the First Supervisorial District, according to the O.C. Voter Registrar.

The incumbent Supervisor in the First District, Andrew Do, came in first place in the Primary Election with 20,730 votes. Martinez was right behind him with 20,530 votes. Do’s fellow Republican, Garden Grove City Councilman Phat Bui, was a distant third, with 11,026 votes.

Bui mercilessly attacked Do during the Primary Election. It is possible that the damage caused by Bui will linger in the General Election, which will help Martinez.

Martinez will definitely have an advantage in November as Latino voters will be expected to turn out in large numbers so they can reject the GOP Presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Martinez did not spend much money in the Primary Election. She raised only $73,782, according to the O.C. Register. One would expect that the Democratic Party of Orange County would help her in November as she has a good chance of winning a seat on the O.C. Board of Supervisors.
