Santa Ana police officers approached a man near the Dyer Road overpass and the 55 Freeway early Sunday morning, fearing he was about to jump. They say that’s when the man, who was only dressed in a T-shirt and shorts, bolted back and forth across the freeway lanes, which ended up being closed by the CHP, according to ABC News.
Police made contact with the man, but he refused to cooperate, according to Santa Ana police officers. There was a confrontation and struggle between the man and police, according to KTLA.
Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived. The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Western Medical Center Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Santa Ana Police Department are investigating the incident.
