ORANGE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY PRESS RELEASE
Case # 14CF1692
Date: March 4, 2016
MAN CONVICTED OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING FRIEND’S 15-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER FOR 10 YEARS
FULLERTON, Calif. – A man was convicted today of sexually assaulting a friend’s 15-year-old daughter for a decade. Isidro Medrano Garcia, 42, Bell Gardens, was found guilty by a jury today of three felony counts of lewd acts on a minor. Garcia faces a maximum sentence of fouryears and four months in state prison at his sentencing on April 15, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in Department N-11, North Justice Center, Fullerton.
The victim testified to the following in trial:
In February 2004, Garcia was introduced to the victim while he lived with the victim and her mother.
In June 2004, Garcia groomed then 15-year-old Jane Doe by buying her gifts and taking her side when the victim and her mother argued.
Between June and August of 2004, the defendant touched Jane Doe’s buttocks and kissed her on the mouth. Garcia sexually assaulted Jane Doe on three separate occasions and forcibly raped the victim at least once in the residence where they all lived together.
In August 2004, a mutual domestic violence incident between Jane Doe’s mother and Garcia was reported to the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD), but a case could not be proven at that time. Shortly thereafter, Garcia kidnapped Jane Doe. The defendant took her to a house in Compton and held her against her will. The defendant subsequently gave Jane Doe paperwork with a false identity.
Between August 2004 and April 2014, Garcia controlled Jane Doe by telling her that her family did not want her and was not looking for her. The defendant threatened the victim that if she called the police to report him, she would get in trouble for using a false identity. Over the years, Garcia kept a close eye on the victim, securing a job for Jane Doe where he worked, and not letting her out of his sight.
In 2010, Garcia got Jane Doe pregnant. The victim had the child, who is currently in the custody of Jane Doe.
In April 2014, Jane Doe contacted her sister on Facebook. After meeting with her mother and sister, she identified herself to the Bell Gardens Police Department, who in turn contacted SAPD on May 18, 2014. SAPD investigated this case.
A jury acquitted Garcia of one felony count of kidnapping to commit a sexual offense and hung on one felony count of forcible rape, which the court dismissed at the request of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Deputy District Attorney Whitney Bokosky of the Sexual Assault Unit is prosecuting this case.

I'm completely disgusted that he is only facing 4 yrs 4 months. Which means he could get less? Our, so-called, justice system has failed again to give true justice. He does all he did to this child, starting when she was 5 yrs old and all he is facing is a light tap on the little finger. Sad, so sad.
Well said.
This guy was found guilty two counts of a "lewd act on a 14/15 year old child' (a 14/15 year old child the OCDA would gleefully prosecute as an adult for any number of things, but that is beside the point).
Probably this, from the OCDA statement. "the defendant touched Jane Doe’s buttocks and kissed her on the mouth". He was SPECIFICALLY acquitted, by a jury of his peers, of Kidnapping AND of Rape. Meaning the OCSA could not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt, at the very least.
Why, pray tell, Mr. Lynem, are you disgusted? Because the OCDA apparently bungled such an open and shut case - as you seem convinced it is?
