Lottery ticket scammers wanted for robbing a Santa Ana woman

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, at approximately 2:15 p.m., suspects approached a victim at the 1600 block of W. 1st. St. and told her they wanted to include her in claiming a winning lottery ticket prize. When she declined participation, the female suspect interlocked her arm with the victim’s.

Under duress and with the male suspect following, the victim was escorted to an OCTA bus that traveled to the area of 1701 N. Bristol St., near the victim’s residence. The victim was escorted to her residence and retrieved $2,500 cash which the female suspect grabbed from her. After grabbing the money, the female suspect gave the victim an envelope in a sock, later discovered to contain only folded paper.

Detectives believe these suspect have targeted other victims in the City of Santa Ana, and are asking for the publics’s help.

  • Suspect #1: Female, Hispanic, approximately 50-60 years old, tan hat, maroon jacket, and blue pants.
  • Suspect #2: Male, Hispanic, approx. 50-60 years old, black hat, blue jacket, blue pants, and white shoes.
