Leading Assembly candidate Michele Martinez lands big endorsements

While the Disney Company, through the SOAR PAC, has been propping up Tom Daly’s lame campaign for the 69th Assembly District, he is being outworked by his leading opponent – Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez.  Just look at the endorsements she has racked up thus far:

  • Assemblyman Ben Hueso
  • Assemblyman Roger Hernandez
  • Assemblyman Ricardo Lara
  • Assemblyman Henry Perea
  • Assemblyman Jose Solorio
  • Ret. Senator Martha Escuita
  • Ret. Assemblywoman Cindy Montanez
  • Ret. Assemblyman Alberto Torrico
  • Santa Ana, Mayor Miguel Pulido
  • Santa Ana, Councilmember David Benavides
  • Santa Ana, Councilmember Sal Tinajero
  • Santa Ana, Councilmember, Vince Sarmiento
  • Garden Grove, Councilmember, Dina Nguyen
  • Garden Grove, Former Councilmember, Mark Rosen
  • Brea, Councilmember, Ron Garcia
  • Lake Forest, Councilmember, Kathryn McCullough
  • San Juan Capistrano, Councilmember, Laura Freese
  • Montebello School Board, Gerri Guzman
  • Cudahy, Mayor Josue Barrios
  • El Monte, Councilmember, Joseph Gonzalez
  • Bell Gardens, Sergio Infanzon
  • Southgate, Jorge Morales
  • Hawthorne, Mayor Protem, Alex Vargas
  • Hawthorne, School Board, John Vargas
  • Santa Ana, Planning Commissioner, Eric Adelrete
  • Santa Ana, Planning Commissioner, Patrick Correa
  • Santa Ana, Planning Commissioner, Sean Mill
  • Santa Ana, Housing and Redevelopment Commissioner, Lynnette Verino
  • Santa Ana, Housing and Redevelopment Commissioner, Monica Garcia
  • Santa Ana, Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Ken Nguyen
  • Santa Ana, Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Max Madrid
  • Santa Ana, Youth Chair Commissioner, Jonathan Espinoza
  • Santa Ana, Environmental and Transportation Commissioner, Don Cribb
  • Santa Ana, Environmental and Transportation Commissioner, Kim Olson
  • HOPE, PAC
  • (Partial Listing)
Impressive!  And I hear she has a good shot at landing the endorsement of the California Assembly Latino Caucus.
Martinez notes on her website that “the newly reapportioned Assembly district is extremely diverse- it has a population that is 78.3% Latino, 9.7% Asian and 1.5% African American (2010 Census). ”  All the more reason to elect Martinez, not Daly.
Click here to get involved in her campaign and click here to contribute to the effort.
What about the other Democratic candidate?  Well, Julio Perez continues to be unknown in the district and the Disney Company took away his biggest campaign issue when they settled their contract with their hotel workers.  Game over for Perez!

  • My involvement started by stating my opinion.

I was imediately attacked by Mr. Diamond, who thinks I am a male Republican Blogger??? That is a familiar tactic from political operators like Diamond.

An attorney, who can't vote in the election co-hosts a fund-raiser in a neighboring district. Sounds EXACTLY like the kind of thing the OCCUPY people are protesting about: Undue influence. Oh, but that doesn'nt matter.

    Total Posers.

  • "It’s good to know that all of Fiala’s comments have been specifically approved."...... Hmmmmmm

Since when the First Amendment needs to be approved.

Any legally trained person knows or should known about unalienable rights.

However, I do not believe that this is a proper forum for me to disuse your anti-Gentile hate.

Therefore, if you have any further anti-Gentile hate to express to me you should send me the summons.

In same time freshen up on C.C.P. Section 425.16 though you ambulance chaser!

CAVEAT: Any further reference to my name by you will be interpreted as provocation and anti-Gentile hate.

I believe that it is about time to file a complaint with California State Bar.

  • Art: "Litigious"? That wasn't a legal complaint, was it? I believe that you're familiar with the difference between a summons and an e-mail. It was a raised eyebrow. You moderate comments routinely, but rabid bigotry is OK? OK.

OCDem: Is that where "your involvement started" -- the first comment you've made about me in this (and other) blogs? Don't bother straining yourself to remember: it isn't. Your pretending innocence is just silliness.

Fiala: I have no animus towards Gentiles; in fact, I've married a couple of them. (Decades apart, though.) I am not, however, a fan of bigots. "If it walks like a duck ..." -- you know. As for a complaint with the State Bar -- that's always your (or anyone's) right, but spurious complaints are not without consequences.

Vern: Yes, those were approved too. Perhaps it is because they were approved of?

    • "Your pals at the Liberal OC" -- Chris and I get along, but I think "pals" overstates it. I'm not close to Dan.

I'm not generally a fan of Republicans. If they're attacking Mexicans for being Mexican, I definitely am not a fan. If they're attacking people who happen to be Mexican for reasons unrelated to ethnicity -- such as for corruption or something -- then I'd want to hear the basis for the attacks before forming an opinion. I don't think that I've expressed an opinion so far.

Why do you moderate all comments if not to vet them?

I tend not to read the Lib OC. That's not a slam against it; I just generally don't get around to it. I wouldn't generally read New Santa Ana either except that its RSS feed is on OJB and people keep letting me know things like "Art is slamming you again."

      • Why? Because your pals often try to post anon comments here that are direct attacks on me and my family. To be honest with you, I don't think I own them a platform to attack me, not when they can do it on the OJ or the Lib OC.

You slammed me first Diamond, so don't go crying now. You started this. You own the outcome.

        • Yet Fiala's comments are OK. Well, it's your blog.

Don't worry, I won't go crying. Someone's crying is what led my publisher to agree to delete the cute Photoshop I did, but I didn't cry about its removal either. It's his blog, after all.

I slammed you for gay baiting, as you may remember. I'll gladly own that.

By the way, your whole last paragraph was a non-sequitur. Too bad that you chose, for whatever reason, not to address what I wrote. My second paragraph deserved better treatment. But don't worry, I'm sure that no one noticed.

  • Cause of action Counter

Threat No 1: "Yet Fiala’s comments are OK. Well, it’s your blog."

Threat No 2: "As for a complaint with the State Bar — that’s always your (or anyone’s) right, but spurious complaints are not without consequences."

Lie No1: "Fiala: I have no animus towards Gentiles."

Defamation No1: "I am not, however, a fan of bigots. “If it walks like a duck …” — you know."

    and counting!

  • Demonstrably untrue, Art. If I insulted you in paragraph 4 I'd hear about it from you and your anonymous friends for months.

Stanislaw, every time you opine about the law, God kills a kitten.

  • Tentative [Notice of intent to file complaint against Esq. Gregory Avergon Diamond - #256598 ("DIAMOND") and a writer for the Political Mosh Pit ("PMP"), a violence promulgating acronym, for numerous defamatory published statements, implied threats and fears made willfully, wantonly and capriciously with malice by DIAMOND in the New Santa Ana ("NSA") and in the PMP aka OJB, to intimidate FIALA directly and indirectly via the Admin to force FIALA'S suspension of the posting privileges in the NSA, by inducing the fear, causing FIALA intentional infliction of emotional distress ("IIED"), a tort, in spite of the numerous demands made by FIALA to cease and desist ("C&D"), such torts, FIALA have been forced to prepare a complaint, properly addressed and first class postage prepaid, to California Barr Association should DIAMOND continue to violate FIALA'S C&D]

    • I'm sure that their investigation would be facilitated by the fact that all of our communication has been in public. I hope that you'll be fair in compiling all of it, without editing or omission, should you file such a complaint.

For me to say anything but "do as you will" would be giving into thuggery, Stanislaw. Your willingness to (at least pretend to) threaten my livelihood in such a way speaks volumes about you, but I take it for what it is. I don't know if people whom you threaten in such ways ever stand up to you, or if they just consider your threats to be buffoonery, but I suppose that this might be a learning experience for us all.

Are we done interacting now? Up to you.

You have the right to speak to an attorney.(Highly recommended because 3 years since your SBC admission may be insufficient to practice internet related civil and criminal law especially as Pro per)
